Editorial policy
How we choose, write and check our stories.
We want every reader, young or old, to be able to trust what they read here.
How we make a story
- Start from a public report. Every story is based on the facts in a news report from a source we trust, and it links back to it.
- Write it in our own words. Stories are written with the help of automated tools (AI), in simple language, using only facts found in the source.
- Check it. A separate check compares the story with the source for accuracy, spelling and child-safety. Anything that fails is fixed or not published.
- Publish with credit. The original source is named and linked on every story.
What we do not publish
- Violence, crime details or death
- Drugs, gambling or adult topics
- Frightening or upsetting events
- Rumours, opinions presented as facts, or anything we cannot check
Pictures
Most pictures are free-to-use stock photos. They show the general topic, not the exact event, so they are marked as “Illustrative photo” with the photographer's credit.
Corrections
If we make a mistake, we fix it quickly and openly. Spotted something wrong? Tell us and we will look into it.
